Hi-Cap Box Mag The box mag for my CAR 15 is made out of a large GRP box, the same size as a 200 round ammo box. Similar to those used on Stoner 63's. Inside it contains a 190 round Hi Cap mag. This mag lies flat in the bottom of the box, the winder pointing away from the gun. The motor mounts to the top of the box ( access is by removing the back panel) The motor itself was originally intended for RC model boat use, and came complete with a handy 2.5 to 1 reduction gear train. This attachs to the top face of the large winding wheel of the Hi Cap. Originally, the joint was made by filing the drive shaft into a hex head pattern (incredibly tedious!) but the more recent version, the end of the shaft is tapped. This is bolted to a large disk of fibre glass, the bottom of which is epoxied to the top faceof the mag winding wheel. A large ramp feeds the ammo by gravity into the open (what would be) side of the mag (now the upper hole) The sprung ammo retaining clip is removed, and the ammo is fed up a spring ( a la top M60) into the bottom of the hop mechanism. Hope this helps, any questions mail me. Will send piccies when I get the camera. (also of my evil pistol gripped M1100)
